The RejuvaLight System
The unit consists of hundreds of tiny individual red and blue light emitting diodes (LEDs) within a compact delivery system that are shone directly onto the face or body to tone and plump the skin, kill bacteria and promote cellular renewal.

Blue Light & Acne Therapy

Unlike laser based anti-aging techniques, which work by deliberately generating small amounts of skin damage using heat to stimulate collagen production and hence wound healing, diode light therapy treatments do not produce any thermal damage.Instead DLT treatments cause a photobiomodulative reaction [4,5,6] to stimulate fibroblastic and collagen generation.
NASA whose research into the affects of LED light on cellular activity started in the 1980′s, found that exposure to certain wavelengths of light, increased wound healing by a factor of 100% or more. It was only a matter of time before scientists started to extrapolate these findings and consider the implications of certain light wavelengths on anti-aging and skin rejuvenation.The most significant recent piece of research on the effect of DLT on skin rejuvenation was conducted by S.Y Lee et al in 2007 and as you will note their results were extremely impressive and the case for DLT very persuasive.Lee et al’s Results showed that:
The severity of wrinkles were reduced by 36% by LED therapy
Skin elasticity increased by 16%
LED/DLT therapy lead to a notable increase in skin collagen, elastic fibres and highly activated fibroblasts
Test subjects treatment satisfaction levels were 95.2% as compared to 13.3% in the control group
Lee et al also concluded:
“That 830 nm and 633 nm LED phototherapy is an effective, safe, well-tolerated and painless treatment for skin rejuvenation. From the clinical aspect, the non-thermal feature of LED phototherapy may be a significant advantage, because we could achieve effective rejuvenation of aging skin without inducing any thermal damage or wound in normal skin.”
The research surrounding the anti bacterial properties of blue light is no less convincing.The foremost study in this area was conducted by P.Papageorgiou, A.Katsambas & A.Chu from the Unit of Dermatology at the Imperial College of Science, London.Papageorgiou et al’s Results showed that:
After 12 weeks of treatment a mean improvement of 76% in inflammatory lesions was achieved by combined blue-red light therapy
This was significantly superior to the result achieved by blue light on its own in the earlier stages (weeks 4 and 8 weeks)
They concluded that:”That phototherapy with mixed blue-red light, probably by combining antibacterial and anti inflammatory action, is an effective means of treating acne vulgaris of mild to moderate severity”.
